Ground water is a common problem, water tables rise when there is consistent, excessive rain fall or snow melt. The rising water table creates hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure can push ground water through cracks and seams of basement floors and foundations. The most common problem area is the area between the foundation wall and the basement floor. Relieving this hydrostatic pressure and preventing the water from entering a basement can be accomplished by installing a pressure relief system most commonly referred to as a French drain system.
